NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham says Premier Gladys Berejiklian has failed to “nurture her government” with policy leadership resulting in a fragile coalition agreement.
The National Party leader and some of his fellow party MPs rejected the Berejiklian government’s move on a Koala planning bill which saw the number of protected trees rise from 10 to 123, severely hindering the ability for farmers and home owners alike to manage their land.
Some of the National members including ministers threatened to cross the floor in an attempt to override the bill, before the premier issued an ultimatum.
“It’s not the fault of John Barilaro, it’s the failure from the premier to nurture her government with policy leadership,” Mr Latham told Sky News host Alan Jones.
“Gladys Berejiklian and the Liberals have presided over policy disasters.
“If you don’t know what you believe in in politics, you’re not nurturing your party, you’re not providing leadership, you’re not providing policy direction, (then) the whole show can fall apart.”
