Acting Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly says there are now 5,500 active cases of COVID-19 around Australia after 747 were identified in the past 24 hours.
He says the virus spreads through the movement of people, so it is important for people to follow guidelines on limited movement, border restrictions, social distancing and not going to work while experiencing any symptoms.
